Dr. Lourens completed his Degree in Medicine at the University of Pretoria. He did his Internship at 1 Millitary hospital in Pretoria and completed his community service in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo. He found Orthopaedics very interesting and applied for a post at Tembisa Hospital in Gauteng in the Orthopaedic department. Here he gained a lot of exprience especially in trauma cases e.g. broken or fractured limbs, gun shot wounds ect. He applied for a post to be trained as an Orthopaedic Surgeon and was appointed a registrars post at Kalafong hospital in Gauteng, which is one of the three hospital where he was trained under supervision of Professors at the University of Pretoria. After completion of his MMed Orthopaedics degree, Dr. Lourens did a 1 yearfellowship in knee and hip arthroplasty (replacements).
It was time to decide where to set up practice and he decided on the South Coast of KwaZulu- Natal, with his rooms situated in Margate.
Dr. Lourens is currently doing theatre lists at Netcare Margate Hospital, Shelly Beach day hospital and Hibiscus Private Hospital in Port Shepstone.
